Starting outside Sligo City Hall, moving into Queen Maeve Square

Join us to celebrate Sligo communities, our new civic space and the heritage of our ancestral Queen of Connacht, Queen Maeve.

Join our community celebratory procession featuring a newly commissioned Queen Maeve sculpture designed by Dee Armstrong and created by Dee Armstrong & Ben Lucent. Maeve will be joined by a host of woodland warriors, lantern bearers, torch bearers drummers and dancers featuring members of Sligo Youth Theatre, Foróige, Cranmore Community Co-op facilitated by artists Hannah Dobson, Niamh O’Brien, Kasia Macudinza, Pete Vamos and Aidan Phelan. Also featuring Aremoja Dancers, Queen Maeve Drummers, Toxic Dogs, Dee Tierney and performers from VolkiDána.

The Queen Maeve Procession along our river into Queen Maeve Square, will culminate in a brand new fire and aerial performance by newly formed spectacle company, VolkiDána. The artistic directors of VolkiDána are Polina Shapkina and Bridget Ní Duinn.

The procession will start outside Sligo City Hall at 10pm
