12.00 - 15.00 DJ Workshop with DJ collective Making Waves
Learn the basics of how to DJ using vinyl or digital decks in an inclusive and friendly atmosphere with DJs and co-founders of the Making Waves collective: Edel Doherty And Vera Schliebitz
15.30 - 17.30 Join an experimental sound workshop with Diarmuid MacDiarmada. Bring small instruments, noise-makers or just your voice and limbs and explore the nature of sound and fun ways to organize it. This workshop will culminate in an improvising DIY orchestra jamming with an experimental DJ set from Diarmuid. It should be rambunctious.
ArdVoltas is an artist-led studio space in Clancy’s Yard, off main street, Ballisodare.
Making Waves collective was officially founded in 2023 but has been active in the Sligo scene for years prior with its annual DJ Party celebrating International Women's Day.
As a Collective, Making Waves promotes diversity, equality and inclusivity in live music performance, production and DJ-ing by supporting female and LGBTQA+ individuals with the tools, skills and mentorship to further their practice. The workshops will be led by co-founders Vera Schliebitz and Edel Doherty.
Diarmuid MacDiarmada is a co-founder of ArdVoltas Art Space a veteran of the Irish art and music scene, with three decades of manifold activities under his belt. As an educator and facilitator he has brought sound-art to many and varied groups for creative, remedial and fun purposes.
