The cast of a documentary theatre show start to question the directors motives when he excludes them from the creative process. Who has the right to tell anyone’s story?

Uprooted is a short drama film which was co-written by the cast and the co-directors Feidlim Cannon and Gary Keegan.  The story is the result of a long term collaborative theatre project which has been running since 2018 between a culturally diverse group of performers in Sligo and the award winning theatre team Brokentalkers; set up and facilitated by Cairde Sligo Arts Festival in collaboration with Hawk’s Well Theatre.

The film brings up many questions about authorship, inclusivity and ethical storytelling, and asks us to question how we approach representation in the arts.

Cast Abigail Ramaabya, Charmaine T Matonsi, Donovan Siziba, Elaine Hanson, Feidlim Cannon, Grace Moyo, Izzy Claffey, Melissa Mpofu, vNokwanda Siziba, Noreen Callaghan, Rosemary Chilufya.

The screening will be followed by a Q + A facilitated by Jess Majekodunmi.
