€5 – €10

Monday, July 08 & Tuesday, July 09, at 1pm & 3pm.

She Waits. The Sun Sets. Sailors Die.

A piece of mask theatre inspired by the Claddagh in the west of Ireland, Cleite tells the story of a Fisherwoman waiting for her husband to return from sea. Featuring live Sean Nós songs and based on superstitions of the old fishing communities of the West of Ireland, this piece was devised in Katie’s Cottage, Claddagh, a restored cottage and museum and has been fittingly transferred to Dolly’s Cottage in Strandhill for performances at Cairde Sligo Arts festival – Monday, 8 July and Tuesday, 9 July, 1pm + 3pm.

“A deceptively simple story, told beautifully…backed by stunning Sean Nos” Connaucht Tribune.

Following three sold-out runs in Galway in 2018, including during Baboró International Arts Festival for Children.

Created by James Riordan.

Mask by Orla Clogher.

Performed by Philippa Hambly.

Sean Nós sung live by Cáitlíln Ní Chualáin.
