Boubacar Traore plays a mixture of blues and Malian roots music based on the Khassonké rhythms of North-West Mali. His unique, inimitable guitar technique owes a great deal to his kora influences, but its shades and phrasing also suggest the great black bluesmen of the deep South: Blind Willie McTell, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters and others.
The driving force behind the melody lines is the infectious khassonké rhythm of the calabash played by Jeremie Diarra, whilst harmonica player Vincent Bucher adds sensitive harmonica lines.
