Songs by the Sea

Songs by the Sea – a series of intimate concerts in seaside cafés – returns in 2017 with performances by Myles Manley, Felip Carbonnell, Tim V. Smyth and The Hunter at Nook in Collooney, Eithna’s by the Sea in Mullaghmore, Shells Seaside Café in Strandhill and Pudding Row in Easkey. The series takes place during Cairde Sligo Arts Festival each July in association with Mark Willis and Bluestack Records. Admission is free.

Starting off the series of music along the Wild Atlantic Way, is Myles Manley at 5pm on Tuesday, 11th July in Nook, Collooney.

A popular Music artist from Sligo, Myles’ music has been described as ‘alt wonky pop’, ‘audacious’ and with ‘an eye and an ear for the twisted pop nugget’.

Myles’ debut album ‘Greatest Hits 2012- 2013’ was released in 2013.

Also on Tuesday at 7.30pm, Filip Carbonell will perform in Ethna’s by the Sea, Mullaghmore. Felip Carbonell is a guitarist, composer and singer-songwriter originally from Mallorca. Enjoy a journey through Latin music from the Catalan rumba to Cuban bolero to Brazilian bossanova to traditional Mallorcan tunes.

Performing in Shells Seaside Cafe, Strandhill on Wednesday 12th July at 8pm is Tim V. Smyth.

Tim V. Smyth, songwriter/musician with Hidden Highways and Sunday School Sessions, is embarking on a new journey with his latest project The Sky At Night.

Skewed electric ballads, dreamy noise pop, feedback freak outs and a handful of hopeful words too.

Finishing off the series on Thursday 13th July is band The Hunter, who perform in Pudding Row, Easkey at 5pm

An up-and-coming Sligo-based band with a unique sound, The Hunter has a refreshing repertoire consisting of their own original music interspersed with choice covers. Influences are folk, alternative music and blues, Afrobrazilian & West African drumming.
